Our partnership with Mr. San Agustin in coordination with FileOnQ Solutions provides law enforcement the tools and expertise for the successful prosecution of criminal cases. John understands the importance of using new technology in coordination with his years of experience to support and assist civil law professionals to a positive (winning) outcome. Through consultation and coordination with FileOnQ, John hopes to extend his abilities to agencies, tailoring his application to assist them in any area which would benefit from his experience and specialized skills.
Background and Skills
John San Agustin is has been in law enforcement for over 12 years. He is employed with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office located in Colorado Springs. John currently oversees the Financial Crimes Unit, Computer Crimes Unit, Cold Case Unit, Metro Crime Lab Personnel, Evidence Facility and Victim Advocates. John’s specialty and passion is in the review, analysis and the coordinated use of specialized, interactive crime scene applications which he has been developing since 1992. These applications have been used with the Columbine High School Shooting Re-Investigation, the JonBenet Ramsey homicide investigation, the Laci Peterson homicide trial, and several other high profile murder cases. This same application has been used in a number of civil cases as well to include patent and trade secret infringement, medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, business acquisition and accidental death.
John has been involved in over 200 death investigations nationally. He is a court qualified expert on computer forensics at both State and Federal levels and consults with District Attorneys across the United States on homicide cases. Based on his background, John has been a guest lecturer for many state and federal law enforcement agencies and trial lawyer associations across the United Stated and Canada. Additionally, he has appeared on several television programs as an expert to include, “New Detective” series, “Court TV”, “Larry King Live”, Nancy Grace Live”, “CBS-The Early Show”, and “The O’Reilly Factor” among others.
John is a faculty member of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the Forensic Science Department. He has been an adjunct faculty member for the last five years, teaching subjects which include High Tech Crime, Crime Scene Investigation, Fact or Fantasy, Forensic Photography, and is a Practicum Advisor for the University.
